Benefits:
Blessed Thistle & Milk Thistle are very similar herbs and are extremely beneficial for both mama and baby. Blessed Thistle can help regulate hormones and aids with ingestion, lack of appetite, congestion and cough. Milk Thistle may increase prolactin secretion in the body & support regulating blood sugar and cholesterol. Combing Fenugreek with thistle increases the medicinal properties from these two herbs.
Fenugreek goes back to around 1500 BCE. It has been used for a long time to help women with improving lactation, hormones, inducing labor and so much more.
Sting Nettle & milk thistle both help with detoxing the body. Sting nettle can ease seasonal allergies, boost immunity, increase circulation, improve energy levels and so much more. I wanted to add sting nettle because it can help with the hormonal shift after having baby so it is not as dramatic on your body. It is also anti-inflammatory and can speed up wound healing.
Shatavari does a little of everything stated above including; acts as a aphrodisiac, fights fatigue, reduces anxiety, strengths the production of breast milk & immune system.
Chasteberry (Vitex) is great for our hormones. It can reduce inflammation and is antibacterial & antifungal effects. There has been studies on vitex repairing bones, helping prevent epilepsy seizures and aids in treating endometriosis.
Fennel Seed helps colic in breastfed infants because fennel passes through the breastmilk and helps relieve colic and gas symptoms in babies. Fat content in milk can increased some studies found.
Anise is another herb that does a lot of similar things as the above herbs. Promotes relaxation and we can all use a little of that.
